This new or alternative plant-based, vegan Alfredo recipe replaces the homemade and popularized dairy recipe which includes Philadelphia cream cheese, Kraft of Kraft-like Parmesan cheese, salted butter and milk.
Ingredients
2 teaspoon diced or minced garlic
3 tablespoons margarine
1 cup chick-pea Parmesan alternative recipe below
2 tablespoons silk soy creamer
¾ cup rice or soy beverage
½ teaspoon sea salt
3 cups pasta type below
4 tablespoons virgin olive oil
For the type of pasta, fettuccine or tagliatelle work well. Other great options are penne, farfalle, capricci, fusilli, ziti or conchiglie.
For Parmesan, below is a great replacement found on the Light Orange Bean website.
Parmesan Recipe note To make a Romano cheese replacement, use the same recipe but replace two ingredients; 1 teaspoon garlic powder for 1 teaspoon garlic salt and ½ teaspoon sea salt for ½ teaspoon herbal salt (herbal salt usually has added ingredients).
Cooking Instructions
As pasta cooks in a separate pot, prepare Alfredo sauce in a large pan.
Add your margarine and garlic. Apply heat no higher than medium-low.
Once margarine and diced garlic start to sizzle, add salt, Parmesan, milk (rice or soy beverage), and soy creamer.
Bring heat to low and mix using a wooden spoon. Keep mixing until you’ve received consistency in your sauce.
Turn the heat off and add a cover to the moisture.
Once pasta is cooked and drained, add to Alfredo sauce.
Add olive oil. Mix and serve.
Recommended to eat with
A glass of red wine and a salad (romaine lettuce or spinach and tomato salad).
Cook's note
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do. I love Italian food. The challenge now is to find worthwhile alternatives for dairy cheese.
I see garlic playing a role in this. A lot of penitential.
